Dackarna
Danny King is enjoying a rich vein of form in both England and Sweden at the moment and last Tuesday’s (23rd August) barnstorming performance for Dackarna in their latest Swedish Elitserien meeting against Vastervik illustrated that to perfection.
This round 16 match was staged in front of 4,848 fans desperate to see their Malilla heroes avoid relegation to the Swedish Allsvenskan league with their remaining matches now getting a little thin on the ground but this 48-41 victory suggests that won’t the case if they can claim something from both their remaining meetings despite remaining stuck to the foot of the table on 11 points.
Danny played his part with a superb 14 point score, easily his best of the season for Dackarna, and with GP star and number one Andreas Jonsson matching his exploits they were always in control of this fixture. King won heats two, four and eleven and form like this will have done his chances of a 2012 contract the power of good. Chris Harris and Nicolai Klindt provided stern opposition for Vastervik but it was never going to be enough on the night.
Dackarna now have only fierce local rivals Elit Vetlanda left to face at home on Tuesday 6th September and that is without doubt a must win occasion for the Malilla club. Before that they face a really tough test at second placed Piraterna (Motala).
Vastervik (12), Vargarna (12) and Lejonen (13) are all within two points of being caught. Vastervik should be safe with one remaining home meeting against Valsarna of Hagfors. Vargarna face two home meetings, albeit one is against league leaders Indianerna, and Lejonen face two away meetings (one of them is at Vargarna) so providing Danny’s Dackarna side can win their remaining home meeting at least then they should find themselves in the relegation play-off meetings to come.
Dackarna 48 Andreas Jonsson 14, Hans Andersen 3+1, Rune Holta 6, Artur Mroczka 0, Fredrik Lindgren 9+2, Danny 14 (3,3,2,2,1,3) and Joel Larsson 2
Vastervik 41 Sebastian Ulamek 8+1, Rafal Okoniewski 5+1, Chris Harris 11+1, Nicolai Klindt 10+2, Peter Ljung 3+1, Pontus Aspgren 0 and Travis McGowan 4
