Dackarna
With opportunities pretty limited in recent weeks at Danny’s Polish club Grudziadz, the team place Danny has gained at Swedish Elitserien side Dackarna of Malilla has been very welcome indeed. Not many speedway experts would have predicted that Dackarna would be bottom of the league at this stage of the season but that is exactly where they are after the 13th round of the 2011 Swedish top flight fixtures.
Danny has shown some good form; particularly his 9 paid 10 points from five rides in the recent 49-41 win at former club Vargarna from Norkopping in southern Stockholm on 19th July. Danny has appeared regularly on the Premier Sports TV channel in the UK which is growing in viewing numbers all the time and is welcome added exposure for his sponsors.
In his latest meeting this evening (August 2nd) he appeared in a live transmission thriller as Dackarna threw away a late ten point lead to be pipped 46-44 by Lejonen of Gislaved. Danny scored 4+2 from six rides in front of 3,883 Swedish fans in a meeting labelled the best of the season as seen by British fans on the satellite channel.
King rode in another home thriller on the 5th July as his Dackarna team were edged out 44-45 by top of the table Indianerna of Kumla as Danny had a difficult night before finishing in style with a heat 11 heat win. Danny also appeared in a live transmission the week before (28th June) in his team’s local derby at Elit Vetlanda where Dackarna lost 52-38 in front of an incredible 5,220 fans. Danny struggled on what is a notoriously difficult track for overtaking and he had two rides for no score on the night. Danny has previously made his debut for Dackarna on the 21st June as he notched five paid six in their 51-39 home defeat as the high flying Piraterna of Motala took the victory spoils on the night.
There is no doubt that Danny will benefit greatly from riding regularly in such a tough league and it is hoped that the Dackarna management will keep faith with the Huntingdon based youngster for the rest of the season.
