It was a great night for Team Great Britain at the Purfleet raceway in Essex as the Lions took the meeting 49-41 and the Ashes test series 2-0, yet it was another night of struggle for Danny King on one of his least favourite tracks.

Danny lined up at number four in this one for his country, rather than at reserve, and his four point scoreline (1,0, N,3) indicated how difficult he found the occasion but nevertheless it was a useful outing ahead of Birmingham’s visit to Lakeside on Friday 10th June.

King did win heat 14 when he teamed up with Ben Barker for a 5-1 over the Australian Sedgmen/Proctor pairing to give Team GB an unbeatable 46-38 lead on the night and the series spoils overall. It was a much better ending to a frustrating night for Danny.

Team GB 49 Chris Harris 6, Lewis Bridger 6+2, Edward Kennett 10+1, Danny King 4, Tai Woffinden 6+1, Ben Barker 13+1 and Robert Mear 4+2

Australia 41 Rory Schlein 12+2, Adam Shields 3, Davey Watt 11+1, Troy Batchelor R/R, Chris Holder 10+1, Justin Sedgmen 2 and Ty Proctor 5+2
