Danny was back in Poland yesterday for his first taste of Polish Division One league action in 2011 and he didn’t disappoint scoring 10 plus 2 bonus points in GTZ Grudziadz’s 56-34 home victory over Lechma Poznan in front of 4,500 fans. This was originally an away fixture but as Poznan still have problems in getting their track ready for the season, this was switched to Grudziadz as a home fixture.

After a decent start to the meeting by the home side, Danny combined with Tomasz Chrzanowski in heat three to notch a 5-1 over Hungarian Norbert Magosi and German Frank Facher leaving the score at 12-6. This was just a sign of things to come for the Grudziadz team. Danny and Tomasz repeated the dose in heat 5, but this time with Chrzanowski taking the flag, Poznan had former Ipswich rider Robert Miskowiak in that one alongside Facher but it made no difference to the outcome.

By the time Peter Ljung claimed a rare heat win for Poznan in heat ten, with Chrzanowski taking second and Danny third for a 3-3 the contest was all over with Grudziadz leading 41-19 by that point. Danny followed that up with second places in heats 13 and 14 following home Peter Ljung and Frank Facher respectively as the home side ran out eventual 56-34 winners.

The Grudziadz promotion can be sure that they made the right decision in choosing Danny over Polish rider Kamil Brzozowski. He along with Krzysztof Buczkowski, who scored a 15 point maximum, were the stars for the home side in what was a solid team performance throughout. Only Peter Ljung impressed for the visitors. Danny had this to say regarding his performance;

“It was a great meeting for me. It was just what I need to be honest as far as performances go in my first league meeting in Poland and is a perfect result for the club as well”.

Danny now has a quiet week in the UK before flying back out to Poland for next Sunday’s home meeting with Gdansk who include the likes of Slovenian Matej Ferjan plus Swedes Magnus Zetterstrom and Mikael Max amongst their squad.

GTZ Grudziadz 56 David Ruud 7+1, Davey Watt 5+1, Tomasz Chrzanowski 9+2, Danny 10+2, Krzysztof Buczkowski 15 (max), Matthew Lampkowski 3+1 and Andriy Kudryashov 7+1
