Birmingham Brummies
If Danny King gave evidence that he is getting stronger all the time at Poole, then he moved that one notch higher with a confident paid ten (2’2,1’,3,0) display as his Birmingham Brummies team enjoyed a superb 48-42 victory over the Coventry Bees.
Danny even took a nominated ride in heat 15, which unfortunately ended in a last place, but that should not take the shine off a decent performance from the Brummies skipper. He shared big 5-1’s with Ben Barker in heat three and with Claus Vissing in heat 14 which wrapped up the two match points for the Brummies in a meeting that many had tipped Coventry to win.
Danny had followed home Russian sensation Emil Sayfutdinov in heat five for a second place which was no disgrace considering the GP star looked untouchable until Ben Barker lowered his colours for the first time in the final race.
It was certainly a pleasing night for King and he has much in the way of confidence to take into Friday’s 2nd Test against Australia at Lakeside (8pm), although he will now have one eye on the British Final at Wolverhampton the following Monday (6th June) at 7.30pm.
