Birmingham Brummies
Birmingham Brummies enjoyed a fantastic start to the Bank Holiday weekend with home and away victories over the Swindon Robins, but for Danny King it was nothing short of a mechanical nightmare as he endured a succession of gremlins in both meetings.
The return meeting on Good Friday evening at Perry Barr turned out to be another win for the on song Brummies as they defeated the Swindon Robins by 48-42. Danny again had a nightmare evening finishing the night with a mere four points (2,Fx,0,2). His night started ok with a second place in heat three but got immediately worse as he was excluded for a fall in heat five when Brummies were on the wrong end of a 5-1 at the time. Danny was up on his feet pretty quickly but out of the race which eventually ended as a 4-2 to Swindon after a re-run. A poor last place for Danny in heat nine after which Birmingham led narrowly 28-26, led to him using borrowed machinery (Ben Barker’s bike) in heat 14. He finished second in that one to remind Brummies fans what he can do once his mechanical problems are sorted out but thankfully his team mates were on the gas to ensure the victory by six points.
Danny had this to say regarding the two victories for the Brummies;
“It was a great double victory for the team but I’m far from happy with my own performances. I had engine problems in both meetings but I’m trying to keep positive and we’ll be making changes for sure”.
King now flies out to Poland on Sunday for his club’s (Grudziadz) meeting at Bydgoszcz on Easter Monday in the Polish First Division, and following that he will appear in the Super 7even event, the Elite League Pairs, at the Norfolk Arena, King’s Lynn. He will line up alongside Krzysztof Kasprzak in Group A
