Birmingham Brummies erased their South Coast nightmare last night by storming to their first league win with a resounding 52-40 win over the Lakeside Hammers at Perry Barr.

Danny endured a frustrating night, as whilst on the face of it, seven points (3,2,1,1) from four rides is not a disaster, it is frustrating him not to be scoring and earning more at the present time. It is certainly a case that the effort that he is putting into his racing is not reaping the rewards in terms of race wins or points scored at the moment. Time after time he got into good positions at Perry Barr within a race to mount a serious challenge, none more so that in heat five against Lee Richardson, but he just could not muster up the power on the slick surface to get by his opponent at the right time.

His night had started well in heat three as King led home Polish racer Piotr Swiderski for a 4-2 as teammate Ben Barker came in third with Adam Shields trailing at the back. Then followed his second place to Richardson in heat 5, and at that point Birmingham led narrowly by a 17-13 margin. Two third places were the best Danny could muster after that in heats 9 and 14 and he will certainly be hoping for better fortunes when he lines up against a tough looking Coventry side at Brandon tonight (Friday 15th April).

Danny had this to say following his latest outing;

“I’m pleased for the team that we have picked up our first official win in the Elite League but I have to make changes myself. I’m struggling with my set-ups towards the latter stages of the meetings when conditions slicken off and I just have to find more drive out on track so that I can improve my results”.

The next stop for Danny is a trip to Coventry this evening as the Brummies take on the Bees in more Sky Sports Elite League action (tapes-up 8pm).
