One thing Danny can’t complain of when the tapes go up on the new Sky Sports Elite League season on Monday evening against Poole is that he is lacking race fitness as he endured another busy weekend following his three meetings last week.
He had his first outing in Poland for Grudziadz in a home challenge match against Ekstraliga side Wroclaw. Both sides included a number of guests but Danny enjoyed a good meeting scoring 8+2 bonus points in the process as the home division one side ran out 50-40 victors. In a contrast to the UK, the old style silencers are controversially still being used out in Poland but Danny showed no problems in switching back to the old system.
Danny managed a couple of paid wins following home Krzysztof Buczkowski in heat 11 and Andrei Kudriaszow in heat 14 for 5-1 maximum advantages. He now looks forward to a good run of league meetings in Polish League Division One in 2011.
GTZ Grudziadz 50 Davey Watt 4, Danny 8+2, Tomasz Chrzanowski 11, Kamil Brzozowski 2, Krzysztof Buczkowski 14, Damian Adams (G) 0, Andrei Kudriaszow 7+1 and Vladimir Borodulin (G) 4.
Betard Sparta Wroclaw 40 Przemyslaw Pawlicki (G) 8, Patrick Malitowski 2+1, Simon Stead 0, Piotr Pawlicki (G) 11, Mariusz Puszakowski (G) 4, Maciej Janowski 13+1, and Patrick Kociemba 2.
After an early Sunday morning flight back to the UK, a tired Danny rode in the Adam Skornicki Testimonial as part of an Oxford Cheetahs quartet in a special four team tournament which also involved home side Wolverhampton, Belle Vue and Poole.
Danny scored four points from four rides, his best being a second place in heat six when he finished behind Peter Karlsson but ahead of Dennis Andersson and Ty Proctor. The racing was a bit tame and you tend to expect that at testimonial meetings but it was again an opportunity to do some more testing and keep sharp ahead of the first league fixture.
That comes tonight when the Birmingham Brummies take on the Poole Pirates in front of the Sky TV cameras at Perry Barr Stadium @ 7.30pm.
Adam Skornicki Testimonial at Wolverhampton
Wolverhampton 37 Freddie Lindgren 17, Tai Woffinden 11, Ty Proctor 3 and Ludvig Lindgren 6.
Belle Vue 35 Morten Risager 6, Rory Schlein 10, Peter Karlsson 13 and Patrick Hougaard 6.
Oxford 20 Adam Shields 3, Davey Watt 6, Adam Skornicki 7 and Danny 4.
Poole 16 Hans Andersen 6, Edward Kennett 5, Dennis Andersson 4 and Shane Parker 1.
