Danny had an excellent night in the big bottom of the table clash against Coventry Bees at Foxhall as he scorched to 12 points but it was all in vain as the Witches fought back valiantly from a nightmare start to miss out narrowly to the Bees who took the spoils, 47-45.

Silkolene driven King notched two wins and three seconds from six rides but at 14-24 down after six heats the Witches were always chasing their tails and despite decent backing from Scott Nicholls (11+2) and Linus Sundstrom (13+2) it was always going to be Coventry’s night.

On Whitsun Bank Holiday Monday the Witches travelled once again to local rivals Peterborough and once again put on a decent display on a night when Panthers had all the luck and Witches had none as result finished 50-39 in favour of the Cambridgeshire outfit.

If the Witches had no luck, then Danny had even less as he scored a respectable eight points from four completed rides including inflicting the only defeat on the flying Kenneth Bjerre who had earlier broken the Showground track record.

King was harshly excluded in heat 3 when a re-run with all four riders would have been a far fairer decision for the referee to give. He became sandwiched between Rory Schlein and Troy Batchelor and although it was not their fault, a photo by the track photographer in the Speedway Star the following week suggested that the referee had called it wrongly. To make matters worse for the Witches, Claus Vissing was already under-powered following an engine failure at the tapes so Panthers strolled to a re-run 5-0 walkover.

A 5-1 in the next heat from Bjerre and Krzysztof Buczkowski left the score at the 16-7 and a heavy defeat for the Witches looked on the cards. However they battled back hard to lead by a point at the interval (30-29).

Then bad luck hit Danny again and Panthers wallowed in their good fortune as Danny lying in second place in heat 12 shed a primary chasing on the last bend to nudge Panthers one point in front as a certain 3-3 became a gift 4-2 to the hosts. A 5-1 in the next and it was pretty much all over as Peterborough looked rejuvenated. Even they would have been hard pushed to believe their good fortune on the night as they finished victors by 50-39.

The following night Danny rode in Sweden for Vargarna against Indianerna at Kumla but he had a nightmare night with three last places in his sides 52-44 defeat in the Swedish Elitserien clash.
Danny also had a mixed night on Monday evening (7th June) as he guested for his old club Peterborough in their Sky Sports televised Elite League clash at Wolverhampton. The Panthers slipped to a narrow 50-43 defeat at the home of the champions and Danny scored 3 points, including an excellent battle with Freddie Lindgren in heat 6 when he eventually had to settle for a quality second place. Other than that Danny’s gating seemed sharp but he seemed to lack speed when he needed it most. That said, Wolves riders are excellent on their own track and know exactly where to find maximum drive throughout the meeting.
