Ipswich Witches
Danny King continued his recent good form in British Speedway with a ten point haul against the Eastbourne as Ipswich won for the first time since the May Day Bank Holiday win over Peterborough. This 47-43 win over the Eagles should be just the morale booster that the Suffolk side needs ahead of some important meetings over the next few weeks.
Danny won three of his four outings in heats three, nine and also heat 12 where his 5-1 with Linus Sundstrom over the Chris Schramm/Dawid Lampart pairing put the Witches back in the driving seat at 38-34 enabling them to see out the meeting from there on in and muster two points in the process. Eastbourne deserved something for their dogged persistence and they would have been pleased to take the match point for losing away from home by six points or less.
Danny was out gated in his only “non-winning” ride by both Matej Zagar and Simon Gustafsson but other than that he was pleased with both his and the team’s work on the night;
“It was a good result for me personally although a slightly disappointing result for the team. No disrespect to Eastbourne but should be getting three points from home meetings like this. Still, we progress and move on from here.”
This was a decent performance from the Witches with the only worry over the form of Claus Vissing. Everyone in the Ipswich side will need to be on the gas for the now tough “six-pointer” visit of the Coventry Bees to Foxhall next Thursday (27th May) at 7.30pm, when they hope to be tracking new signings Lewis Bridger and Krzysztof Kasprzak.
· Danny was also in action down on the South Coast a week last Saturday where he competed in David Norris’s Farewell to Speedway meeting and scored 9 points in the process narrowly missing out on a place in the “Last King of Arlington” Grand Final in a meeting won by Peterborough rider Lewis Bridger.
· Danny should have tasted his first action of the season in Sweden last night (Tuesday) but unfortunately the clash between Danny’s club Vargarna (Norrkoping) and Indianerna (Kumla) was postponed due to a waterlogged track.
