Ipswich Witches
After the euphoria of the win over local rivals Peterborough in their previous home meeting, Ipswich Witches and their Captain Danny King would have been looking for far more from this meeting than what they ended up with in the final reckoning.
For Danny, it wasn’t a bad night to be fair. Nine points from four rides was a decent enough score but he was disappointed to be out gated in his final ride in heat 14 and that turned out to be the decisive heat for the Lakeside septet. A 5-1 by the Hammers pairing of Jonas and Daniel Davidsson over the King/Stachyra pairing ensured that the points were heading back to Essex and then a 3-3 final heat ensured that Lakeside stole the match point as well.
Danny has earlier recorded good wins in heat 3, which was largely from the gate and in heat 5 when he won a first/second bend tussle with Hammers new signing Lee Richardson before going on to record the victory and in a new track record time for the Foxhall track of 58.3 seconds. This was definitely something for Danny to be proud of and something positive to take away from a disappointing night.
What is certain, is that an improved performance all round will be expected from Ipswich at Coventry in the Elite League clash with the Bees tomorrow night.
