Ipswich Witches
Ipswich just missed out on what would have been a hard earned victory against title favourites Poole Pirates at Foxhall Heath last Thursday as Danny crashed out in heat 14 when the Witches were closing in on the Pirates two point advantage.
Danny gave his usual swashbuckling performance around Foxhall and would have taken a likely nominated ride had he not fallen heavily in heat 14. Scott Nicholls was as inspired as ever with paid 12 points but it was reserve Linus Sundstrom who stole the show with an excellent paid 13 from six rides at reserve. This was a much improved Ipswich performance and they kept in contention in a meeting where the Pirates were expected to be dominant and that was far from the case.
Danny won heat three pretty much from the tapes beating Davey Watt and Darcy Ward in the process and then followed home Claus Vissing in heat five for a 5-1 over Troy Batchelor and Jason Doyle as the Witches led 16-14. That was as good as it got for Ipswich although Danny had the opportunity to pull back that deficit in heat 14 before his spill;
“We should have won this meeting and that is the most disappointing thing. There are still too many riders letting the team down and we need to re-group and knuckle down as a unit to ensure that we win meetings like this. Tonight showed what we are capable of and if we get everyone firing together then we will be ok.”
“I got into trouble in my last ride and copped a big ‘un and I didn’t have the finish to the meeting that I had wanted but that’s in the past now and we move on.”
Danny’s next meeting will be in the Billy Sanders Memorial Pairs at Foxhall on Thursday 29th April when he will be paired with Wolverhampton’s GP Star Tai Woffinden on the night (7.,30pm).
